Hyman-Newman Institute for Neurology and Neurosurgery (INN)

The Hyman-Newman Institute for Neurology and Neurosurgery (INN) provides internationally recognized adult and pediatric services with specialty treatments — both medical and surgical — for illnesses of the nervous system.

At the INN, we integrate the knowledge and experience of a full array of medical and surgical specialists, as well as professionals in allied health fields, on behalf of patients and their families. Every case is reviewed by a team drawn from the INN's comprehensive, multidisciplinary staff.

The staff includes adult and pediatric neurologists and neurosurgeons, neuro-oncologists, nutritionists, nurse practitioners, acute-care nurses, psychiatrists, social workers, health psychologists, pain managers, physicians' assistants, and technicians, all of whom are experts in their fields.

In addition, the INN offers diagnosis and treatment of neurological disorders that can be caused by cancer. This approach can improve your quality of life by anticipating and treating neurologic symptoms. For patients with neurological disorders related to cancer, we will help make arrangements to obtain clinic notes, neuroimaging scans, pathology slides, laboratory test results, and other diagnostic neurology evaluations, such as EEG, EMG/NCV, and angiography results.

Members of the INN staff maintain close working relationships with referring physicians. As recommendations are finalized, we contact your referring physicians by phone or fax regarding your diagnoses and our recommended treatment plan. A formal consultation note is also sent to the referring physician within one week. In addition, to ensure continuity of care, we encourage you to follow up with your primary care or referring physicians.
